Cookie Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
JobsAbroad UK carries no advertising tags, and none of our own code sets a cookie. The cookies you will meet come from our two analytics tools. Below is everything that ends up in your browser while you are here.
1. What we mean by cookies
We use "cookies" loosely, to cover any way a website keeps data in your browser:
- Cookie: a small text file a site saves, then reads again on later visits.
- sessionStorage: tied to one tab, and emptied when that tab is closed.
- localStorage and IndexedDB: held until someone deletes them.
2. The single item our code stores
Our own code places exactly one item in a visitor's browser. It is not a cookie.
chunk_reload_at lives in sessionStorage. It notes a time, so that if we publish an update while you have a page open, the page refreshes once rather than breaking. It contains nothing about you, it disappears when you close the tab, and we never use it to recognise you, count you or track you across other sites.
4. Staff login
When a member of our team logs in on the hidden admin page, Firebase Authentication (Google) holds the session in IndexedDB or localStorage, and their login email is kept in localStorage. If you never open that page, none of this is created on your device.
5. What else our pages load
Google Fonts. Our typefaces are delivered by Google, which receives your IP address and basic details of your browser in the process.
YouTube. Where we feature YouTube Shorts, the preview images come from i.ytimg.com. A page without videos hides that section and requests nothing. The player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and only once you tap a video; after that, YouTube may store data under Google's policies.
WhatsApp and share buttons. They do nothing until tapped.
Other websites we link to. Once you visit them, government websites and the other websites we link to (Skills Assessment Australia, Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid and English test practice) set their own cookies under their own policies.
6. Why there is no cookie banner
We have no ad pixels and show no consent banner, so the analytics cookies are set as a page opens. For visitors in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google Analytics is set up to run without its cookies. Saying no to cookies is straightforward, as the next section shows.
7. Staying in control
Your browser settings let you clear or block site data at any time, and the public site carries on working normally. A private or incognito window discards its storage on closing. Should Google Fonts be blocked, a font on your device is used instead. If you want YouTube to store nothing, just do not play the videos; the preview images do not load the player. The staff login is the only part of the site that needs browser storage. And to stop Google Analytics on its own, add the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
8. Changes to this policy
Any new cookie or stored item will be listed here, and the date at the top will change. For personal data in general, please see our Privacy Policy.
