Leaving the UK for work is a major decision. Before you hand in your notice, dip into your savings, book flights or pay for a visa, take a moment to read this. It sets out what our content can do for you, and where it stops.

1. General information, not advice

The guides, articles, job pages and videos on JobsAbroad UK are general information. They are not immigration advice, legal advice or financial advice. They are written for a wide audience rather than for your particular circumstances.

What is open to you turns on things we cannot see, including your occupation, age, qualifications, skills assessment, English test result and family situation. Use the site to get informed and to prepare, then find out how the rules apply in your own case.

2. Who decides

Employers decide who is interviewed, who is hired and when the job starts. The Australian and New Zealand governments decide whether a visa is granted and how long that takes. JobsAbroad UK has no part in either decision.

We therefore give no guarantees. Applying through the site does not guarantee an interview, a job offer, sponsorship or a visa. Someone else's success, even with a background like yours, says little about how you will get on.

3. Our role

JobsAbroad UK does not issue visas, and we are not a registered migration agent. If your situation is complicated, or the stakes are high, get advice from a qualified professional who is authorised to give it.

4. Official information comes first

Each visa guide summarises government material and shows an "as of" date. Fees, salary thresholds, occupation lists and rules can change at short notice, so a guide may already be out of date. Before applying or paying for anything, check the current official pages:

5. Documents from the UK

An employer or visa officer may want paperwork that only you can get here, such as a valid passport, a police certificate, certified copies of your GCSE, A level or degree certificates, or evidence that a qualification is genuine. Some of it can take weeks to arrive. JobsAbroad UK does not issue or process any of these documents and cannot hurry them along. Confirm the current steps, costs and timescales with the issuing body, and be suspicious of anyone selling a shortcut.

6. Salaries and exchange rates

The title, duties, requirements and pay shown on a job come from the employer and may change. Pay is normally in Australian or New Zealand dollars, can be quoted by the hour, week or year, and is usually before tax. Any figure converted into pounds is only a rough guide. Go by the numbers in a signed offer, and set them against living costs where the job is based, which differ a great deal.

7. Four checks before you commit

  1. Check the "as of" date on our guide against the official page.
  2. Ask the employer for the pay, hours and conditions in writing.
  3. Keep copies of every document and message.
  4. Walk away from anyone promising a certain job or visa.

8. Other websites we link to

Government websites, YouTube, WhatsApp and social networks are not under our control. The other websites we link to, Skills Assessment Australia (rpldirect.com.au), Build AI CV (buildaicv.com), Talent Tabloid (talenttabloid.com) and English test practice (practisenow.com), have their own terms and privacy policies. Linking to something is not an endorsement of it.
