Heavy Excavator Operator

Visa sponsorship

Construction · Auckland, New Zealand · Full-Time · $35 - $40/hr · Visa: Employer sponsored

Forget trenches and footings. This Auckland job is about turning scrap into export-ready metal. A busy recycling yard that prides itself on safe, professional and highly efficient processing wants an experienced, safety-conscious Heavy Excavator Operator for its permanent yard crew.

You will drive a 30-tonne tracked excavator fitted with three processing attachments, a shear, a grapple and a magnet, and handle the whole processing cycle, from cutting down heavy structural steel to loading bulk export containers. The role is full-time and permanent with a 30 hour minimum and steady hours of up to 50 a week. AEWV sponsorship may be possible for highly qualified international applicants who are already in the country or ready to move.

Make your CV list the tonnage you have operated, every attachment you are confident on and your licence classes and endorsements, then load up a scrap yard excavator operator CV with Build AI CV.

  • Sort metals with the grapple
  • Feed balers, shredders and other processing plant
  • Stockpile ferrous metals with the magnet and keep the processing lanes clear
  • Run daily pre-start checks and manage the hydraulic lines when swapping attachments

Requirements & Eligibility

  • 30-tonne-plus excavator experience gained in a scrap metal yard, heavy demolition or a quarry
  • Direct, confident experience operating a hydraulic shear, grapple and magnet (essential)
  • Valid NZ Class 1 licence with a WTR endorsement (highly preferred)
