Key Responsibilities
- Study technical drawings and project specifications before starting any stonework
- Measure accurately and calculate the material each job needs
- Cut, shape, polish and finish stone to the project brief and prepare components for installation
- Install benchtops, splashbacks, fireplaces, barbecues and other architectural or custom stone features
- Check finished work for alignment, dimensions, finish and overall quality
- Coordinate project requirements with other trades and installation teams
- Run and maintain specialist stoneworking machinery and hand tools, keeping them in good working order
- Sort out measurement, fabrication or installation problems as they arise, applying health and safety procedures at every stage
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised stonemasonry qualification or formal trade training, together with a stonemasonry trade certificate
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
- Practical experience in stone fabrication and installation
- Confident reading technical drawings and specifications
- Skilled with professional stone cutting, shaping and finishing equipment
- Precise in measuring and finishing
- A practical problem-solver in fabrication and installation work
- Works well alone and in a team
- Physically able to handle and install stone
- Committed to safe work practices and professional workmanship
- Able to provide supporting evidence of qualifications and relevant employment experience
