Swapping a UK practice for Wollongong? This full-time Accountant role in Wollongong, NSW, sits within a multidisciplinary financial services business offering accounting, tax, lending and financial advice.
The business is after around 2 to 3 years of Australian public practice experience. You'd join a collaborative accounting team handling SMEs, companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals, with an experienced Senior Accountant supporting and reviewing your work. Responsibility and direct client work build over time.
There's mentoring, support with CPA or CA development and a genuine route to Senior Accountant and then Client Manager. The employer has said sponsorship may be considered; that will hinge on your experience, how well you fit the role and your visa eligibility.

Key Responsibilities
- Draw up financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Look after BAS and the general accounting and tax workload for SME clients
- Prepare personal tax returns and help clients plan ahead at year end
- Keep clients informed and correspond with the ATO when a file calls for it
- Organise your own diary around statutory deadlines, supporting the Senior Accountant's client portfolio in Xero and other cloud software
Requirements & Eligibility
- Roughly 2 to 3 years of accountancy experience gained in Australian public practice
- A history of drawing up financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Practical knowledge of Australian tax and compliance, BAS included
- Strong, confident Xero skills
- Good written and spoken communication, a sharp eye for detail and a knack for juggling competing deadlines
- A tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or equivalent; CPA or CA studies, whether under way or planned, highly regarded
