Automotive Technician

Visa sponsorship

Automotive · Adelaide, SA, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored

If you have spent years under bonnets in a UK garage, here is a permanent, full-time way into the motor trade in Adelaide. An established dealership workshop needs qualified Automotive Technicians and Diagnostic Technicians, and it will also take on Accessory Fitters and 3rd or 4th Year Light Vehicle Apprentices.

Your week would mix scheduled servicing on light vehicles, fault finding across mechanical, electrical and electronic systems, and fitting extras such as tow bars, canopies and roof racks to the maker's instructions. Careful workmanship and looking after customers both count here. Employer sponsorship is available for suitably qualified overseas applicants who meet Australian visa requirements.

When you update your CV, set out your qualification level, the diagnostic tools you know and the vehicle brands you have worked on most. You can sharpen an Adelaide light-vehicle technician CV with Build AI CV before you apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Look after light vehicles on their service schedules, handling routine maintenance and repair work
  • Use diagnostic equipment to find mechanical, electrical and electronic faults, inspect each vehicle and decide what repair it needs
  • Finish every repair to the manufacturer's specifications and the workshop's own standards
  • Install aftermarket accessories such as bull bars, tow bars, canopies, roof racks and lighting, sticking to the maker's fitting guides and quality checks
  • Keep your bay clean, safe and organised, follow health and safety policy and help the workshop stay productive alongside colleagues and managers
  • Turn out careful work that keeps customers happy, and take part in manufacturer training as it comes up

  • Qualified Automotive Technician or Diagnostic Technician, or a current 3rd or 4th Year Light Vehicle Apprenticeship
  • Accessory Fitter experience, or a strong mechanical aptitude for fitting accessories
  • A suitable automotive qualification or apprenticeship for the position
  • Hands-on experience servicing and repairing light vehicles, with the ability to diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical faults
  • Close attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic, happy working independently or in a team
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • A current driver's licence, or able to obtain an Australian driver's licence
