Automotive Technician

Automotive · Adelaide, SA, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored

If European engineering is what you most enjoy working on, this Adelaide workshop will suit you. A growing South Australian garage needs a full-time Automotive Technician who specialises in European vehicles and can take on servicing, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance.

You would use modern scan tools and manufacturer data to track down awkward electrical and mechanical faults, strip and rebuild components, road test the finished job and record it all. The workshop wants someone who can get on with it unsupervised.

Workshop owners skim for brands and tools, so put the marques you know and your favourite scan platforms high on the page of your CV. Set down your European car diagnostics work in Build AI CV and apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, diagnose and repair European vehicles, tracing stubborn mechanical and electrical faults to their source
  • Work on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension
  • Use scan tools and computerised diagnostics on electrical and electronic systems, reading fault codes, wiring diagrams, manuals and manufacturer specifications
  • Dismantle and inspect engines, gearboxes and other parts, replacing or repairing anything worn or faulty
  • Do the routine jobs well too: logbook services, oil and filter swaps, fluid top-ups and preventative work
  • Do brake work, tune-ups and general repairs
  • Reassemble systems after repair and test that they work safely
  • Road test vehicles, do a final quality check and record servicing, repairs and diagnostics accurately
  • Follow workshop safety procedures and keep your workmanship to a high standard

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised automotive trade qualification, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years working professionally as a Motor Mechanic
  • You have worked hands-on on European vehicles (time on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Volvo, Land Rover, Range Rover or similar brands is highly regarded)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding, able to diagnose and repair faults confidently and independently
  • Experience with computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools
  • Able to follow technical documentation, wiring diagrams and manufacturer procedures
  • Good English communication and a current driver's licence
  • Committed to full-time employment in South Australia
  • Must meet applicable requirements for employer-sponsored visa consideration
