Early mornings and the smell of fresh loaves come with this one. A busy Brisbane bakery and cafe bakes everything in-house each day, from bread to pastries and cakes, and takes orders for custom celebration cakes too. It needs an experienced Baker to join full time.
Your days would mix standard bakery production with finished pastry and cake work, in a settled business that is still expanding. It is permanent, at 38 hours per week. Overseas applicants are welcome, and visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect ingredients as they arrive and scale out each recipe
- Make up bread doughs, sponge batters, sweet and savoury pastry and fillings, then divide and shape loaves, rolls, tarts and cakes
- Get trays and tins ready and run the ovens, watching heat and timing
- Finish cakes and pastries with icing, cream, chocolate, fondant and sugar paste, including bespoke cakes that customers order
- Price and wrap goods and set out the counter so it is full when the doors open
- Use and clean the mixers, sheeters, provers and other kit
- Keep hygiene and safety standards high
- Help invent new recipes and lines
- Supervise and train junior bakers and kitchen staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- A Certificate III or IV in Baking or Patisserie, or a higher culinary arts or patisserie qualification
- At least 1 year working as a Baker, Pastry Chef or Pastrycook in a commercial bakery, hotel kitchen or patisserie
- Hands-on skill in pastry, cakes and decorating, plus a good grasp of hygiene and food safety
- Happy to start early, work weekends and follow a rotating roster
- Desirable: fondant and bespoke cake design
- Desirable: has supervised a kitchen or led a team
- Desirable: has worked in a bakery or cafe serving customers
