Getting a new restaurant off the ground takes a steady cook. A Brisbane kitchen preparing to open wants an experienced Chef to run service calmly, keep every plate consistent and bring junior cooks along while the team finds its feet.
Alongside cooking to recipe, you would coordinate the kitchen in busy periods, help develop the menu, supervise and train juniors, and keep food safety and cleanliness tight. Stock, ordering, rotation, waste and cost control are part of it, and you may need to travel interstate for training. Sponsorship consideration is available for suitably qualified applicants.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to recipe and standard, with flavour, presentation and portions consistent
- Keep prep and service efficient and coordinate the kitchen at busy times, communicating well with kitchen and service staff
- Contribute to menu development and recipe improvements, and supervise and train junior kitchen staff
- Keep kitchen practice in line with food safety requirements and the space clean and safe
- Monitor stock use, plan orders, rotate stock, reduce waste and support cost control and efficiency
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant cookery qualification is preferred
- At least 3 years working as a professional Chef
- Practical commercial kitchen experience and a firm grasp of food preparation and cooking procedures
- Knows food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Balances competing priorities and keeps quality high in busy, high-volume service
- Works well in a team, communicates clearly and is reliable and committed
- Experience with Mexican cuisine is advantageous
- Able to travel interstate for training when required
