Steady under pressure and good at keeping plates consistent? A hospitality operation in Cairns, Queensland wants experienced Cooks and Chefs with a solid commercial background to join its established kitchen team.
You would handle daily prep and mise en place for lunch and dinner, cook to recipe so every plate matches, and check quality, presentation and portions. Juggling tasks in busy services, keeping your station clean and food-safe, helping with menu ideas and pitching in on general kitchen jobs are all part of it, with weekends, early starts and late shifts when needed. Sponsorship is available for eligible and suitably experienced candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals to the kitchen's set standards, following recipes so every plate is consistent
- Complete daily prep and mise en place, including for lunch and dinner services
- Help develop menus and recipes when asked
- Handle several cooking tasks during busy services and finish prep and cooking on time as priorities change
- Check food quality, presentation and portion sizes
- Keep your station clean, organised and hygienic under food safety procedures, working closely with the kitchen team
- Perform consistently in a high-volume kitchen and help with general operations as needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional experience as a Cook or Chef, including busy, high-volume commercial kitchens
- Delivers consistent food quality under pressure
- Good knowledge of cooking methods and food preparation
- Follows recipes and kitchen procedures accurately
- Well organised and manages time well
- Reliable and professional at work
- Communicates and works well within a kitchen team
- Hard-working and positive, with a passion for food and hospitality
- Available for weekends, early mornings and late-night shifts when required
- Previous multi-venue hospitality experience is advantageous
- Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
- Can meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements and take part in candidate verification and assessment
