If cooking for a packed marquee gets your adrenaline going, read on. A wedding and events venue near Wollongong, part of a group that owns five such venues, is hiring a full-time Chef de Partie for its catering team, to start immediately. Menus are European, and the services are large and quick.
Your section is yours from mise en place to the last plate, and you will sit down with the Head Chef over menus, tastings and seasonal changes. Ordering, stock and food safety need a firm hand, junior chefs and kitchen hands look to you for training, and now and then you will cook at the sister venues. Long-term people are wanted, and the five venues give a clear route to Sous Chef. Eligible candidates can be offered visa sponsorship under Subclass 482 Skills in Demand.
You will need a CV and a few plating photos, so note the biggest functions you have cooked for and the sections you have run, then prepare an events chef de partie CV with Build AI CV.
Key Responsibilities
- Own your section from prep through to the end of service at weddings and events
- Sit down with the Head Chef to plan menus, run tastings and update dishes for the season
- Keep ordering, stock levels and food safety under close control
- Coach and lead junior chefs and kitchen hands
- Travel to the group's other venues to cook for catered events
- Keep standards up when the services are big and fast
Requirements & Eligibility
- 3 years' culinary experience, with time spent as a CDP or as a strong Demi
- Able to plate for large numbers without any drop in quality
- Food safety certification (or getting it within 30 days of starting) and a Drivers License, which is required
