Cooking for aged-care residents is about nourishing, well-presented food that suits each person, and a catering service in Sydney is hiring a permanent full-time Chef to do exactly that. The roster runs Sunday to Thursday.
You would cook for residents, adjust meals for dietary and texture needs using IDDSI, help plan varied menus and keep a lid on stock, food costs and waste, working closely with kitchen and care staff. South American cuisine experience is especially welcome, whether Brazilian, Peruvian, Colombian, Argentinian or Chilean. If you have cooked in a UK care home or hospital kitchen, that background is worth highlighting.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious meals for residents with consistent quality and presentation
- Modify dishes for each resident's dietary and texture needs, following IDDSI for texture-modified food
- Keep food safety and hygiene standards high and stay efficient when the kitchen is busy
- Liaise with the kitchen and care teams
- Help plan and prepare menus that include culturally appropriate options for variety
- Watch stock, support ordering and keep food costs and waste under control
Requirements & Eligibility
- Commercial Chef experience
- Relevant cooking qualifications
- A strong interest in preparing quality food
- South American cuisine experience preferred
- Knowledge of Brazilian, Peruvian, Colombian, Argentinian or Chilean cuisine advantageous
- High-volume food production experience
- An understanding of dietary requirements
- Strong food safety and hygiene practices, plus good communication and teamwork
- Aged-care experience desirable
- IDDSI experience desirable
- Australian working rights or eligibility for sponsorship
