Fancy swapping the UK winter for a heavy vehicle workshop in regional New South Wales? An established road transport firm is recruiting a Diesel Motor Mechanic for its heavy commercial vehicles on a permanent, full-time basis, based in Dubbo or at a second Riverina workshop with a rotating roster to Dubbo.
Day to day you would diagnose tricky faults, carry out repairs and keep on top of preventive maintenance across prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment, keeping downtime to a minimum and the fleet in line with NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules.
Visa sponsorship on subclass 482 is available to suitably qualified candidates. Those who already hold a valid visa in Australia are given preference, though it is not a requirement. You will need a licence and must pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test.

Key Responsibilities
- Look after planned preventive maintenance and logbook services across engines, gearboxes and brakes, to OEM guidelines
- Get to the bottom of electrical, mechanical and emission control faults using advanced diagnostic kit, and put them right
- Strip down and rebuild major components, with fabrication work where it is needed
- Keep the fleet NHVR compliant and the paperwork audit-ready
- Stick to workshop safety rules, run work orders through the fleet management software, head out to roadside breakdowns and help train drivers in vehicle checks and defect reporting
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years as a heavy diesel mechanic, preferably in the road transport sector
- A qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Desirable: a working knowledge of NHVR standards and bulk freight kit
- Proficient with diagnostic software
- A good knowledge of petrol and diesel engines
- Hold a current licence and be able to pass both a medical and a drug and alcohol test
