Swapping the UK winter for a busy trailer workshop in Western Australia? A well-established business in Perth is looking for a full-time Heavy Vehicle Body Builder / Trailer Mechanic.
It's a role with two halves. In the fabrication shop you'd be welding and fabricating, putting right structural damage and carrying out bodywork on a wide spread of trailer makes and models. On the mechanical side you'd inspect, service, diagnose and repair trailers, with brakes, suspension and running gear all part of the mix. Technical drawings come into it, and so does practical, hands-on problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
- Weld and fabricate trailer bodies and structures
- Put right structural damage across a wide spread of trailer makes and models
- Carry out trailer bodywork
- Inspect and service trailers
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs
- Work on brakes, suspension and running gear
- Read technical drawings and solve problems with a hands-on approach
Requirements & Eligibility
- Well-honed welding and fabrication skills
- Able to read and make sense of technical drawings
- Experience working with steel
- Experience working with aluminium
- A proven background in heavy vehicles and trailers
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and repair skills
- Knowledge of trailer running-gear brands, e.g. BPW, K-Hitch, Hendrickson and SAF
- Experience of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Relevant trade qualifications, solid industry experience or both
- Desirable: an HR or other truck licence, a forklift licence, confined space certification, intermediate rigging and overhead crane experience
