Swapping the UK winter for a kitchen in New Zealand's South Island? An Indian restaurant near Dunedin is recruiting an Indian Curry / Tandoori Chef for a permanent, full-time post of at least 30 hours a week.
You would be running lunch and dinner services that get properly busy, sometimes single-handed and sometimes with the brigade, and passing on your techniques to kitchen staff and apprentices. Standards matter: food quality, presentation and hygiene all need to meet New Zealand food safety rules. There is room to put forward new dishes too, alongside keeping an eye on stock, waste and costs.
Applicants need New Zealand residency, a valid New Zealand work visa, or eligibility for sponsorship under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme.

Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead on lunch and dinner services when it gets hectic, single-handed or with the brigade
- Keep an eye on kitchen staff during each shift
- Show apprentices and staff the techniques and prep behind the menu
- Make sure prep, plating and cleanliness meet New Zealand food safety rules
- Have a hand in shaping the menu and pitching new dishes
- Keep tabs on stock, trim waste and run a cost-efficient kitchen
- Talk clearly with diners and colleagues and help build a positive team
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years' experience as a chef, or in a more senior position, within a commercial kitchen
- Strong leadership skills, together with strong communication and organisational skills
- Copes efficiently under pressure while keeping quality consistent
- Happy to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays, with a commitment to long-term employment
