Cakes, pastries and big-batch bakery lines are the daily work in this Pastry Chef job at a commercial bakery in Dubbo, New South Wales. You would weigh out ingredients, run the mixers, ovens and dispensers, and keep each batch looking and tasting the same as the last.
Hygiene sits at the heart of the role, with GMP and HACCP applied on every shift and machines cleaned and cared for between runs. The work is physical too, including moving loads of up to 25kg. Key Responsibilities
- Weigh and prepare ingredients for cakes, pastries and the other bakery lines
- Operate mixers, ovens, dispensers and other production machines, keeping an eye on each bake so batches stay consistent
- Keep production organised and moving, working to set recipes, procedures and quality standards
- Apply food safety, hygiene, GMP and HACCP rules throughout the day
- Keep work areas clean and hygienic and look after the bakery machinery
- Lift, carry, push and pull products and materials of up to 25kg safely
- Help the wider bakery team reach its production targets
Requirements & Eligibility
- Practical experience in a commercial bakery, pastry or food-production environment
- Able to prepare and produce bakery or pastry products, and to run bakery equipment safely and efficiently
- A baking or food-production qualification is advantageous
- Working knowledge of commercial food safety and hygiene, including GMP and HACCP principles
- Careful attention to product quality and consistency
- At ease working within a production-focused team
- Physically able to handle loads of up to 25kg
- Currently residing in Australia
- Able to provide evidence of relevant qualifications and work experience
