When the nearest dealer is hours away, the station mechanic keeps everything moving. A pastoral company running a group of cattle stations in remote northern Western Australia needs two skilled, experienced mechanics to keep its vehicles, trucks, motorbikes and station machinery in working order.
Life on a cattle station is like nothing else, but the climate is extreme, so you must be fit to work in high heat and high humidity. You would service and repair the fleet, respond to breakdowns and callouts, train station staff on daily checks and keep the parts store stocked. Drug and alcohol testing can happen at any time, with zero tolerance. Sponsorship is available for skilled and eligible applicants who meet the criteria, and only people ready for a long-term commitment should apply.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep vehicles and machinery maintained, serviced and repaired on a regular schedule
- Answer breakdowns and callouts as soon as they arise
- Operate tools and machines safely, and show station staff how to do daily checks and basic services
- Track parts used so they can be reordered, keeping the common ones on the shelf
- Improvise fixes when parts or tools are hard to get
Requirements & Eligibility
- A trade qualified mechanic in Diesel / Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, with at least 2 years' experience
- You have worked as a mechanic in a comparable role and genuinely love station life
- Safe with diagnostic and test gear on every machine in the fleet
- C Class driver's licence (essential)
- It would be an advantage to hold a Motorcycle licence, HR or MC licence
- Handles tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Happy working solo or in a team far from town, improvising when parts or tools are not readily available
- It would be an advantage to bring strong troubleshooting and problem-solving, good communication and a positive attitude
- Physically fit for high temperatures and high humidity
