Homes damaged by fire, falling trees or vehicle impact still need accurate drawings before they can be reinstated or redesigned, and that is a big part of this Architectural Draftsperson job in Sydney. A growing multidisciplinary consultancy wants someone who can measure what is already there, draw it properly in AutoCAD and see how those drawings feed into planning approvals.
Alongside the drafting you would prepare Statements of Environmental Effects and Development Application packages, lodge them on the planning portal and keep consultants such as heritage, bushfire and stormwater specialists coordinated. Sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Survey existing residential and medium-density buildings on site and turn your measurements into accurate, detailed architectural drawings
- Draft preliminary plans and help pick out structural elements in the drawings
- Review LEPs, DCPs and other development controls, then write Statements of Environmental Effects and supporting planning documents
- Pull together Development Application documentation, lodge it on the planning portal and follow each DA through
- Coordinate designers with heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveying and arboricultural consultants
- Produce tidy 2D AutoCAD drawings in model and paper space to established drafting standards
- Check every drawing and document for accuracy, completeness and consistency, fixing technical issues quickly
- Keep clients, consultants and colleagues informed, manage your own workload to agreed deadlines and suggest improvements as the business grows
Requirements & Eligibility
- Background in architectural drafting, planning or a closely related field
- Proven 2D AutoCAD proficiency
- Practical experience drawing existing buildings, from measuring on site to recording conditions accurately
- Familiar with residential and medium-density architectural documentation
- Has prepared or supported Development Applications
- Working knowledge of NSW LEPs, DCPs and planning requirements, including documents like Statements of Environmental Effects
- Sound understanding of drafting standards and drawing office procedures
- Accurate and detail-minded, with good analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Confident coordinating several consultants and working with clients and project stakeholders
- Organised, manages time well and takes ownership of work with limited supervision
- Professional written and spoken English, plus working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe applications
- Relevant qualifications and/or substantial practical industry experience (experienced architectural drafters are encouraged to apply)
