Maintenance and Reliability Lead

Engineering · Perth, WA, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored
Plenty of maintenance jobs mean keeping someone else's system ticking over. This one means building the system in the first place. A growing Perth manufacturer wants a Maintenance and Reliability Lead to move the site from reactive repairs to planned, preventative work.
You would still get your hands dirty, fault-finding on PLCs, drives, hydraulics and mechanical gear, while also setting up the CMMS, inspection routines, spares and contractor management. Working with production, equipment makers and specialists, you would push for better uptime and fewer repeat failures. The visa and work rights conditions are set out in the last requirement.
On your CV, list the control systems you have repaired, the maintenance software you know and the reliability improvements you have led. Showcase your PLC fault-finding and CMMS rollout work in Build AI CV.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance and reliability for the manufacturing site and own plant availability and maintenance performance
- Build structured preventative and predictive maintenance programs around production needs and equipment criticality
- Fault-find instrumentation, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems, and carry out hands-on mechanical and electrical repairs within your qualifications and authorisation
- Troubleshoot automated controls, motors, sensors, variable-speed drives, HMIs and PLCs
- Investigate repeat failures to find the root cause and fix it for good
- Keep asset, work order and equipment history records accurate, and get more out of the CMMS, including MEX
- Set inspection routines, service intervals and maintenance standards with practical procedures and checklists
- Improve how critical spares are identified, stocked and managed
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and specialist service providers, making sure licensed work is done by suitably qualified people
- Support installation, commissioning, upgrades and modifications through to handover
- Coach operators to look after equipment and spot faults early, lifting safety, response times and uptime
- Enforce isolation, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and other safety procedures

- Exposure to commissioning, equipment upgrades, condition monitoring or reliability engineering will be highly regarded
- Understanding of GMP, HACCP or controlled manufacturing environments would be advantageous
- Able to work safely within your qualifications, licences and authorised scope
- Australian work rights or eligibility for employer-sponsored employment, and eligible to meet Australian visa, qualification recognition, licensing and skills-assessment requirements
