Product Engineer

Visa sponsorship

Engineering · Auckland, New Zealand · Full-Time · $27/hr · Visa: Employer sponsored

New product introduction is the heart of this full-time Auckland post with a global technology company. As Product Engineer on the NPI side, you would take electronic products from early prototype to full-scale production, working shoulder to shoulder with engineering, quality, supply chain and manufacturing colleagues.

The focus is practical, from build processes that work to test rigs that stay reliable, quality problems traced to their cause and production that keeps getting better. It suits an engineer with solid electronics manufacturing experience, whether gained in the UK or elsewhere, and employer sponsorship is available for eligible international candidates.

Give your CV a clear NPI story by listing the product launches you saw through, the test fixtures you supported and any PCB assembly work. Prepare an NPI product engineering CV with Build AI CV so a hiring manager can follow it quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Steer new electronic products from prototype into full production
  • Work alongside engineering, quality, purchasing and manufacturing teams throughout development
  • Develop, validate and improve build processes for electronic and mechanical products, and support the test systems, fixtures and equipment behind them
  • Use structured root cause analysis to investigate manufacturing, test and quality problems, then put corrective and preventive actions in place
  • Study production data to find gains in efficiency, quality and cost, supporting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, manufacturing procedures, test plans and change records
  • Partner with suppliers and manufacturing partners on production readiness, provide technical support on the line and in sustaining engineering, and travel overseas occasionally

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electronics and mechanical manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing readiness
  • Practical experience building, supporting or troubleshooting manufacturing test fixtures and production equipment
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing, assembly, quality systems and inventory management, with the ability to analyse processes and improve productivity and quality
  • PCB assembly manufacturing and electronic production testing experience is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation or product lifecycle management systems is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Clear communication in professional English and a collaborative style across cross-functional teams
  • Willing to travel internationally on an occasional basis
