Rolling stock is a specialist world, and this Brisbane role is for an engineer who already knows it from the inside. A Senior Electrical Engineer is needed to lead the electrical side of rail fleet projects, from reviewing designs and overhaul documents to signing off testing and commissioning.
Expect to sit between contractors, project managers, maintenance crews and suppliers, keeping modification and refurbishment programmes on track and making sure safety and quality never slip. You would also write the specifications and scopes that others work from. Employer sponsorship is available for qualified overseas applicants.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical work on electrical rolling stock engineering projects
- Review engineering designs, overhaul documents and technical submissions
- Coordinate contractors, project managers and specialists so electrical requirements are met at every stage of delivery
- Support fleet modification, refurbishment and reliability programmes
- Carry out engineering inspections, testing, commissioning and acceptance, and investigate equipment faults with practical fixes
- Prepare engineering specifications, scopes of work, procedures and technical reports
- Monitor engineering quality, compliance and project performance, and back improvements that lift safety and asset reliability
- Work with maintenance teams, suppliers and operational stakeholders, explaining complex technical detail clearly
Requirements & Eligibility
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Extensive background in rolling stock or rail vehicle electrical engineering
- Strong knowledge of electrical system modifications, upgrades and overhaul programs
- Experience leading engineering investigations, testing and commissioning
- Able to produce technical documentation, engineering specifications and scopes of work
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Current unrestricted driver's licence
